On Sunday, October 15, about 2 dozen teams of 4 through 8 grade Los Altos area students will run their robots against each other in a tune-up scrimmage for the annual Los Altos Robotics FIRST LEGO League qualifying tournament. Please drop by to cheer the teams on, watch the fun and consider being part of a Los Altos Robotics FIRST LEGO League (FLL) team next season.

FLL is brought to us by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) and LEGO® MINDSTORMS. This exciting program introduces kids ages 9-14 to the wonders of science, engineering and technology in a fun and engaging way. The teams design, build and program autonomous robots using the LEGO Mindstorms Robotics Invention System. They run the robots on a 4’ X 8’ “challenge” board designed by FLL using Lego pieces for the structures. This year’s worldwide theme is "NANO QUEST". As visionaries and scientists, the 2006 FIRST LEGO League teams will explore unimaginably amazing new technologies that start in the Nano world and lead to the things we do and use every day.

The tournament is Saturday, November 18 at Covington and Oak Avenue Elementry Schools, from 1:15 PM until 5:30 PM. For more information, visit www.LosAltosRobotics.Org or contact Michael Schuh at 965-8037 or MichaelLosAltosRobotics.Org .
